Route Details and Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town to Matjiesfontein

260km: We begin our ride heading north-east out of Cape Town towards Ceres via Bain’s Kloof Pass. After Ceres we head through the southern reaches of the Great Karoo before turning back south to the historic town of Matjiesfontein and an overnight stay in the grand Lord Milner Hotel

Day 2: Matjiesfontein to Prince Albert

244km: Today we ride through four spectacular passes and 'poorts' as we explore the Swartberg mountain range. These include the famous gravel road through Seweweekspoort and then the magnificent gravel Swartberg Pass before we reach our overnight stop in the town of Prince Albert.

Day 3: Prince Albert to Barrydale

297km: Our exploration of the Swartberg mountains continues as we ride a good tar road through Meiringspoort. We turn west and head through the historic Ostrich town of Oudtshoorn before connecting with Route 62 and our overnight stop at the Joubert-Tradouw wine farm 12 kilometers west of Barrydale.

Day 4: Barrydale to Cape Town

320km: Our final leg begins with a descent through Tradouw Pass before we turn west towards Cape Town along the southern fold mountains and a ride over one of the most spectacular routes in the country - Franschhoek pass. If we have time and energy we can also take in the spectacular False Bay coastal road from Kleinmond to Gordon’s Bay.

Ride one of our Honda Africa Twin XRV 750's or Suzuki V-Strom 650's - or bring your own bike

"The Honda Africa Twins were everything a person could need to travel the rugged terrain.  I own a BMW F800gs, and was still blown away by the maneuverability of the AT and it’s ability to tackle a variety of conditions.  Andrew’s knowledge of the mechanical aspect of the bike and riding expertise provided a completely worry free traveling experience." Andrew and Greg aren't just great guides, they're also just really great people -- a joy to ride with and also a joy to hang out with. They ran my tour without a hitch and made sure we stopped at all the best secret spots. When I booked this motorcycle trip I wanted the trip of a lifetime. I got it and then some. Wow. What an experience!
